Charge RN - FT Nights - Three 12s
The Oncology Unit provides services to primarily adultoncology patients with occasional adolescent patients. The Oncology Unitprovides continuous 24 hour care to patients with medical, hematological andoncological conditions including Bone Marrow Transplant and to those patientswith potentially life-threatening medical conditions that require observationand care. The outpatient care may be continued when the outpatient clinic isclosed for those who need continual daily treatments or follow-up.
The nursing staff is trained to accept most medical/surgicalpatients after the admission screening criteria is met. Screening criteria isfor infection to protect the oncology population from unnecessary exposure toinfection. The nursing staff is certified in chemotherapy administration.Dynamaps, pulse ox, telemetry, and lab results, are used to evaluate andmonitor the patient's condition. Day staff are certified to provide moderatesedation.
The Charge Nurse is a professional practitioner whoassesses, manages, directs and provides nursing care activities for theinpatient units / clinical areas. She/heis responsible for the planning, organization, delegation and completion ofpatient and unit activities for a specific shift. Thecharge nurse focuses on the quality and outcomes of care and facilitates therole and responsibilities of the team members.
Minimum Education: RN licensure in the State of Missouri
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience desired.
- Satisfactory performance appraisals.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism in working relationships and during delivery of care.
- Possesses good problem solving abilities including follow up and reporting.
- Remains calm and is able to handle highly stressful situations.
- Possesses excellent organizational skills.
- Is available for variable shifts.
- Energetic and motivated.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases. Exposure tounpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Subject to varyingand unpredictable situations. Handlesemergency andcritical situations. May work variablehours
Physical Requirements: Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Occasionally lifts, positions, pushes, and/ortransfers patients. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pull100 pounds.
